HSC Years 11 & 12 Programs



SPORTS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM


SEDA College partners with major sporting brands and organisations that facilitate real life industry experiences and student opportunities. The program integrates HSC and Vocational Education and Training (VET) where students are immersed in industry through unique inductions, community events and work placements. This combination enables our students to acquire the skills to support future educational and employment pathways.


Year 11:
Preliminary HSC
VET Certificate II in Sport and Recreation
VET Certificate II in Business Services
Year 12:
HSC
VET Certificate III in Sport and Recreation
VET Certificate II in Business Services Completion

Upon successful completion of the two years at SEDA College, students will achieve the following qualifications:

  • HSC
  • Certificate II in Sport and Recreation
  • Certificate III in Sport and Recreation
  • Certificate II in Business
  • Sport specific coaching qualifications
  • Outdoor recreation qualifications in canoeing, navigating and bush walking
  • Advanced First Aid Certificate

 

SEDA College students experience a unique education pathway because of our relationships with several of Australia’s leading sporting organisations. Students are involved in industry experiences they will not find anywhere else. We develop Areas of Study and curriculum with our industry partners so that students develop the knowledge, skills and attributes of current industry professionals.
Through a tailored, individual approach known as “MyPLAN”, teachers will support students to develop these skills to set them on a pathway to success. Students will use the latest technology and web-based applications to learn, whilst developing transferable skills that will provide a head start across a wide range of industries.

SEDA College operates across two state of the art campuses, Glebe and Sydney Olympic Park.

See page 8 of the Prospectus for more details.

Selection into SEDA College’s Sport Development Programs are not dependent on skill and students of all ability level may apply.

Students must currently be completing Year 10 or equivalent to apply for Year 11 entry. Students who have a non-traditional or different schooling history should contact our admissions staff to determine their eligibility for the College.

Students must have completed Year 11 for entry into the Year 12 HSC course. Applicants for Year 12 must start in term 4 of year 11. We are not able to accept students into the Year 12 course later than October of the year preceding year 12 graduation.

Students attend SEDA College five days a week. Classes include both theory and practical elements alongside industry-based learning experiences.

Currently, the College fee has been set at $5,700 per annum. This all-inclusive fee includes:

Applications for Scholarships and fee reduction can be made by families who are offered a place at SEDA College. 

No, all students leave their current school to attend SEDA College NSW programs. SEDA College is a registered independent co-educational senior secondary school.
Students travel to the program via public transport. The SEDA College program aims to develop students’ independence, confidence and time management skills and independent travel is part of this self-development.
Students are responsible for sourcing their own work placement. However, SEDA College staff will provide students with key information around workplace skills and tips on securing a placement as well as assist students with their search as required. Students may complete their placement in sport and recreation industries or in other industries if they choose
Yes, students have a number of pathway options either into further study at university or into employment.
